Tun Tavern Market is owned and operated by flavor and spice-loving veterans. Our goal is to provide you with hand-crafted sauces that will enhance any culinary experience.

All of our hot sauces are Lacto-fermented, a method of food preservation that brings out an amazing and unique "umami" flavor, without the need for added vinegar or preservatives. This practice was once commonplace but has faded in popularity due to the time, labor, and patience required to make such foods, as well as the availability of commercial preservatives (eww!). Our fermentation process naturally creates acidic sauces that are shelf-stable, without the need for added vinegar or any added preservatives. As a result, all of our hot sauces are vegan and gluten-free.

As veterans, we are no stranger to hard work and are very familiar with the practice of waiting (ask any veteran what it means to "hurry up and wait”), making us uniquely qualified for bringing this delicious practice of controlled, natural fermentation, back to life. We've taken a modern approach to this method to ensure the consistency and quality of our products, and we’re sure that you will absolutely love the flavorful journey that our sauces take you on.

Here at Tun Tavern Market, we have a strong passion for history, tradition, and great-tasting food! Our name, "Tun Tavern," is an homage to the birthplace of the United States Marine Corps, which came into existence on November 10th, 1775, at Tun Tavern in Philidelphia. While we can't speak for any of the food served in 1775, where there were no pizzas OR blueberry and ghost pepper sauces, we are positive that you will be blown away by our products!
